Analytica is seeking a Data Scientist to support a defense health mission critical program. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with clients in consulting and delivery capacity to provide solutions that tackle complex problems. The person needs to be a US Citizen with a SECRET clearance or the ability to secure a SECRET clearance.  The role may be Hybrid, either in San Antonio Tx or Falls Church VA or potentially remote with periodic travel for meetings.

The ideal candidate will work across different project workstreams to help analyze and improve quality of care on a range of special topics.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Demonstrate experience working with military or veteran healthcare systems (e.g., DHA, VA), with a deep understanding of healthcare data, regulatory compliance, and mission-driven care delivery.
  • Conduct ETL, exploratory data analysis (EDA), data wrangling to develop and present innovative ML algorithms to enhance healthcare system and collaboration.
  • Apply ML techniques and time series for predictive analytics to support faster and more accurate healthcare outcomes.
  • Design, develop, deploy NLP and AI/ML models incorporating unit testing, performance validation, and post-deployment monitoring to ensure reliability and scalability.
  • Develop interactive, user-friendly dashboards and visualizations in Python, Power BI, and/or Tableau to support real-time healthcare analytics and decision-making.
  • Work with clinical and operational stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into meaningful, data-driven visual solutions.
  • Enhance user engagement with dynamic, drill-through capabilities and actionable insights embedded within dashboards.
  • Execute thorough quality control procedures to ensure high reliability, data integrity, and optimized performance of ML algorithms and dashboard solutions
  • Produce clear and comprehensive documentation, including business requirements, technical specifications, and user training materials tailored to AI/ML and dashboard solutions.
  • Develop presentation materials (e.g., PowerPoint summaries, technical briefs) to support algorithm approval processes and facilitate stakeholder communication.
  • Maintain versioned documentation to support compliance, reproducibility, and knowledge transfer across teams.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, data analytics, statistics, computer science, health policy, or public health.
  • Must be able to maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • 3+ years of experience in Python, R, and/or SQL for programming, ETL, and data analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical programming concepts and best practices.
  • Experience with machine learning development, including creating training/testing sets, validation sets, target definition, and algorithm evaluation criteria.
  • Hands-on experience building ML algorithms such as regularized regression, random forest, XGBoost, and neural networks.
  • Experience delivering analytic dashboard products (Tableau and/or Power BI) is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL development, including writing queries, procedures, and performing query optimization.
  • Proven ability to investigate, report, and justify algorithm results, and present insights in the context of organizational business challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey technical concepts to a wide range of audiences and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks within time constraints and meet critical deadlines.
Key Technical Skills
  • Proficient in Python, R, SQL for ETL, data analysis and ML development.
  • Skilled in data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Experienced with git version control systems (e.g., Github and Gitlab).
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and a variety of DBMS that are primarily analytic databases, like Amazon Redshift and Vertica for scalable ML solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiar with large language models (LLMs), chatbots, and recommendation systems to improve decision-making.
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Share best practices and promote continuous learning in AI/ML methodologies and tools aligned with business goals.
  • Implement automated testing frameworks and monitoring tools to maintain consistent deployment quality across data applications.
  • Experience with the Department of Defense or a Federal health care entity.
  • Experience in a private sector of health care.
  • Experience with building and maintaining client relationships.
